Hoghton Tower Exposed
It is the responsibility of intellectuals to speak the truth and expose lies.
Hoghton Tower and Sir Bernard de Hoghton are in a difficult position, they have a pheasant and duck shoot on the estate but know that it's not publicly accceptable to many of their visitors.
Hoghton Tower have used the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC) and 'Shooting Times' magazine to defend the Hoghton Tower shoot wildlife killing policy. The problem with this strategy is that it links them even closer to bloodsports when Sir Bernard is trying to downplay the Tower's involvement in bloodsports. Also BASC and 'Shooting Times' propaganda might well resonate well with the 'Shooting Community' but it doesn't transfer too well to the general public.
Now modesty (and the truth) prevents us claiming to be intellectuals but it's our public duty to expose the misinformation of Hoghton Tower's public defence of blood sports.
The Trust About the Hoghton Tower Shoot
Bernard de Hoghton
In April 2007 Bernie told the public that, "The syndicate will no longer be staging any of the four duck shoots." In September 2007 1,000s of ducks were shot at Hoghton Tower and each year after. What does that tell you?
Who Hired Snoopy?
Within days of launching the Hoghton Tower campaign a female campaigners started receiving unsolicited letters. These developed into abusive and threatening text messages. Who hired the private investigator?
Laughable Claim
On the 17 April 2007 Sir Bernard de Hoghton told the Chorley Citizen, "I was hoping to have cross-table discussions with these people [protesters] but they are completely blinkered." Quite simply his claim is laughable.
