Ghost Tours
The Hoghton Tower website claims it is "reputedly the third most haunted house in Britain".
Another ghost sighting at the Tower?
Of course it is nothing of the sort.
The sight of Sir Bernie walking the corridors of Hoghton Tower at night dressed in his jim-jams might well be a frightening sight, however it can hardly be classed as a ghostly experience.
A video of an apparent 'ghostly experience' at Hoghton Tower was posted on YouTube recently. It showed a light in Long Barn Lane Wood near one of the pheasant pens.
When it was pointed out that the video look suspiciously like the gamekeeper shining a mini-maglite in the wood it quickly disappeared off YouTube. Shame really as it was quite amusing.
As everyone in Lancashire will tell you, it's Samlesbury Hall that is renowned as one of the most haunted locations in Britain and NOT Hoghton Tower.
Whilst it might be a clever marketing to try and cash-in on the popularity of Samlesbury Hall ghost-hunts, it does smack of desperation.
Next Hoghton Tower will be claiming William Shakespeare stayed there, oh they already do!
