Animal Welfare campaigners have criticised the decision to shoot up to 8,000 ducks on the Hoghton Tower estate despite Sir Bernard de Hoghton’s promise that it had stopped.
Sheep Worrying Shooters Blasted
Animal welfare campaigners have blasted the Hoghton Tower shoot for shooting in a field of sheep to their obvious distress. Shoot monitors claim shooters were only concerned with how many pheasants could be killed.
Brave Men at it Again
Police were called to Hoghton Tower after a shoot monitor was allegedly assaulted. The monitor was trying to photograph a few of the injured and dead birds when he was approached by several men and allegedly hit in the stomach.
Pipe Gun Found
Campaigners have discovered that the Hoghton Tower Shoot have used a pipe gun to scare people from investigating their gamebird killing activities. Typically a pipe gun is fitted with a shotgun cartridge and a trip wire is used to trigger the gun.
