Brave Men at it Again

Police were called to Hoghton Tower after a shoot monitor was allegedly assaulted whilst attempting to film a pheasant shoot.

Monitors had been tipped off about the shoot by local residents and had just arrived to film the pheasants being shot at the Tower. As the monitor tried to photograph a few of the injured and dead birds he was approached and allegedly hit in the stomach.

Hoghton Tower killing wildlifeIt takes brave men to take on a fully grown pheasant when armed with only shotguns!

Unedited video and photographs were given to the police along with signed statements. The police, you've guessed it, decided not to charge anyone as there were no 'independent witnesses'.

A spokesperson for North West Animal Welfare commented, "This is the second time a monitor has allegedly been assaulted and no action taken by the police. What message is this giving to the Hoghton Tower Shoot? We'll not be intimidated from exposing the cruelty of duck and pheasant shooting at Hoghton Tower."
